Curtain
This curtain, made of black and white boucle and white and gold poly, woven in plain weave and in doup leno, is mostly open enough to allow a fairly clear view out and mostly opaque enough to give a little bit of privacy. It was designed to fit the door of my apartment, which has 10 clear glass panes. It measures about 30" in width and about 5' in length.
It was my second experience weaving doup leno, and the first on my own counterbalance loom. (The other time was in summer 2015 on one of Anni Albers's Looms with my friend Fritz Horstman at the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation.) The way in which the counterbalance loom functions caused some problems and my advice to anyone else who wants to weave doup on a counterbalance loom is to invert the doup system and tie the doups to the top bar of the heddles, rather than the bottom (which is typical for jack looms).
